Please Review the rules for KRVHSA schooling shows: - Walk/trot Class #13 horse and rider entries cannot also enter any class that offers loping or cantering.
- In hand trail entry may not also be ridden in the trail classes.
- Attire should be appropriate for the class you are entering.
- Clean is important.
- Please be prompt to your class.
- 12 and Under classes are all walk/trot.
- 12 and Under riders may enter Open and will be required to lope or canter.
- No Stallions or colts over 2 years old. Jan 1st is birthday for this purpose.
- All horses entered in any class must be well mannered or will be excused from the arena and/or show grounds at the discretion of the show management.
Awards Day Awards: Each show day will give out ribbons 1st to 5th place for each class. Rosette to Grand Halter, 13 & over High point, 12 & under High point and a gift to Overall High point. 2008 Year End Awards: An Award will be presented based on the most points totaled for each division entered. Divisions are: Open, 13 and Over, 12 and Under. The Highest Award is given to Versatility High Point. This is the most points earned (Overall High Point). This is based on the person who enters the most classes and wins the most! Awards are given for Halter Points that are totaled for the horse including Overall Halter, Hunter in Hand and Trail in Hand. The horse receives the award regardless of who shows the horse. Special Awards are given for each of these categories: Bareback, Driving, Weanling & Walk-Trot Western Awards will be presented to Western All Around, English Overall, Trail All Around and Showmanship Overall. Participation Awards are given for entering in 3 shows. Perfect Participation Awards are exactly that - All 4 shows must be entered with a minimum of 4 classes entered at each show. Anyone who volunteers time to help at the shows receives a special recognition award. Class information: Weanling Halter! Class #1 We will be offering a weanling class for both our fall shows! Bring out those weanlings and show off your foals! Great way to get them out and start them learning about traveling and being around other horses. If your foal is not weaned, you can bring mom and have someone hold her outside the arena while your foal is being shown. Please prepare ahead and get them used to being separated for short periods! Class # 13 Walk - Jog Western is intended for those horses or riders who are not ready for riding at a speed faster than a jog. Hunter in Hand! Class #9! More than a typical halter class! Hunter in Hand (HIH) shows the movement of your horse and is judged solely on your horse. HUNTER IN HAND 1. Equipment: a. English bridle should be used on horses two and older. Decorative bridles and halters (silver or colored) are discouraged. Bridle should have egg butt, D-ring, O-ring or full-cheek snaffle bit (that meets ENGLISH PERFORMANCE snaffle bit specifications) with keepers, with mouthpiece that is round, oval or egg-shaped, smooth and unwrapped metal. b. For horses one year old and younger, halters are required. The halter and lead should be a halter of plain leather. The chain on the lead may be over the nose or under the chin; however, no chains are allowed in the horse’s mouth and no lip chains are allowed. c. The use of a crop or bat is optional. 2. Attire: a. Attire of the handler should permit free movement. Color may be chosen to complement horse, but should be conservative. Suitable attire shall be a collared polo shirt or collared dress shirt (solid colored and either white or another conservative color), vest, tie and gloves (optional). Dress pants should be loose enough in which to run. If a belt is worn, it should be a plain belt, not of western type or style. Jeans are discouraged. Running shoes or paddock boots are preferred. 3. Class Conduct: a. Horses will be judged individually on the triangle. b. The horses will approach the judging area (A) and set up for inspection in the “open” position (i.e. with all four legs of the horse visible by the judge standing on either side of the horse). The judge shall inspect each horse from the front, rear and both sides. c. At the judge’s request, the horse will then walk the small triangle ABCA. The horse will continue on at a trot following the large ADEA. d. At the completion of the judging, the handler will lead the horse away from the judging area. As one horse leaves, the next one will enter the judging area promptly.  D E Walk ............

A Start here, set up horse for judge to review. Then walk on outside of cones of smaller triangle ABCA, trot outside cones on larger one ADEA. Stop at A and exit. Triangle is 70 to 90 feet (21.34 to 27.43 m) between corner markers 4. Scoring System: 60% movement, 30% conformation, 10% temperament. 5. If a horse knocks over a cone or marker, they are to be scored accordingly. This does not constitute immediate disqualification but at the judge’s discretion can be penalized in the temperament or movement score. 6. If a horse or exhibitor falls, they are to be scored accordingly. This does not constitute immediate disqualification but at the judge’s discretion can be penalized in the temperament or movement score. 7. If a horse is off pattern either by completing the large triangle ADEA before the small triangle ABCA, by not displaying the correct gait while completing the corresponding triangle or by not submitting to inspection prior to completing the pattern, the entry shall be disqualified. a. An appropriate penalty shall be assessed at the judge’s discretion for break of gait during completion of the pattern, but this shall not constitute off pattern or immediate disqualification. |
